As we approached Running Eagle Falls we immediately became aware of its many vantage points. Over the log here was just one. Halfway up the falls, on its righthand side, you will see water gushing out of a chute or cave. When the water levels and snowmelt decrease, the upper half of the falls disappears and the water through this chute is all that remains. The drive from the St. Mary area to this falls was unusual and totally awesome in a different way from Going-to-the-Sun Road.
