The sacred Running Eagle Falls plummets into a clear river, surrounded by lush evergreen trees and overlooked by a majestic mountain. The colorful riverbed stones create a vibrant mosaic effect in the shallow water. Running Eagle Falls will be a pleasant surprise for the visitor. There are many angles and POVs. Notice two waterfalls in one downward slide. About halfway down the right side of the falls, you will see a huge underground spout of water. As the snowmelt supply of water disappears during the summer, the upper half of the falls disappears and only the lower spout remains. The drive from the St. Mary area to this falls was unusual and awesome in a different way from Going-to-the-Sun Road.
